Data from these unique organizations didn’t show the region’s overall decline in employee engagement.Our once-clear distinctions between our personal and professional lives have become hazy, taking on a persistent tint of grey.Where we work, how we work, and what we want from work have altered in the two years since a global pandemic turned many of our homes into offices.Around the world, workers have quit their employment in quest of greater satisfaction and meaning in life, as well as greater respect and admiration.In response, some companies increased their salaries and incentives.Because to its high level of employee involvement, Wavestone was ranked fourth among major businesses on the Best Workplaces in EuropeTM List in 2022.
The list is divided into four categories: 25 small businesses (with 10 to 49 workers), 50 medium businesses (with 50 to 499 employees), 50 large businesses (with 500 or more employees), and 25 global businesses (with more than 1,000 employees).
EQUAL PAY AND OPPORTUNITY
Fairness, which is characterized in part by the conviction that businesses provide fair compensation and promotions, as well as equal opportunity to be recognized, was the second area in which Best Workplaces outpaced national list rivals.
Comparing winning workplaces to national list winners, fairness was 9 percentage points better at 87%.
Without an inclusive workplace culture where all employees are valued, supported, and treated fairly, it is difficult to enjoy fairness.
In order to overcome the gender pay gap by 2023 and achieve gender parity in leadership roles by 2030, Chiesi Group, ranked No. 12 on the list of international companies, established the Global Gender Equality Challenge. This year, it’s also emphasizing inclusion of those with disabilities.
SUPPORTING EMPLOYEE WELL BEING.
According to Gallup, European workers suffered in this regard, with well-being falling five percentage points in the previous year to 47%, in contrast to levels of 59% among the Best Workplaces in Europe.The Best Workplaces in Europe provide more flexibility as one of the numerous ways they encourage employee well-being.Centiro characterizes its culture as “relaxed seriousness” — “a razor-sharp aptitude for problem-solving, combined with a personal and relaxed touch,” the company says. Centiro thinks that employees operate at their best when mentally concentrated but relaxed.Because life should always be in balance, the company uses the term “life-life balance” instead of “work-life balance.”No. 6 on the medium list and based in Italy, Bending Spoons, provides unlimited vacation time but, in contrast to many employers, mandates that staff members take at least 20 days off annually.
In order to promote a coordinated period of rest and recovery, the Swedish company Tyréns (ranked No. 49 on the major list) closes its offices for three weeks throughout the summer and between Christmas and New Year’s.
How and where employees work are both factors in their overall well-being. According to the BBC, certain European nations have embraced hybrid work more than others.
