So grab a seat for a quick tour of 12 of Hungary’s most stunning locations as we discover what they have to offer. Hungary is one of Central Europe’s hidden beauties.

1.  Budapest

You can’t really contest the decision, unless you’re a die-hard fan of Paris or Rome, that Budapest is the most attractive capital in Europe. The city is divided into two sections by the Danube: Buda, which is historically significant, and Pest, which is more urbanized and industrial. You can’t get to know the capital of Hungary in a weekend. There are many places to view there, but the most well-known ones include the Parliament, Buda Castle, Fishermen’s Bastion, and Heroes Square.

Gellért Hill’s top, where the Statue of Liberty is located, is worth the climb if you want to take in the city’s lit-up skyline or a beautiful sunset.Don’t forget to take a plunge in one of the old thermal baths, such the Rudas or Gellért Bath.Head to the Jewish neighborhood, which has recently evolved into a party area, when the sun sets.Known ruin pubs like Szimpla can offer you a distinctive fusion of communist history and contemporary bar styles. If you’re more interested in culture and sightseeing, you’ll undoubtedly enjoy the city’s 86 museums, which include the Museum of Fine Arts, the National Museum, and the National Gallery in the Castle.

2.Eger

Eger offers visitors a variety of cultural and historical experiences. The town’s castle and the siege of Eger that took place in 1552 between the Ottoman conquerors and the Hungarian fortress guards are its most famous features.Despite the overwhelming Turkish advantage, the Hungarians amazingly prevailed because of their tenacity and the participation of the women.

Eclipse of the Crescent Moon, a book about Géza Gárdonyi’s tale that has been widely published and is one of the required readings in Hungary, was written about the author. One of the most well-known authors in Hungarian literature, Géza also has a memorial home nearby.

3. Baradla

The Bükk National Park includes its visitor center. Despite being a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the majority of visitors are Hungarians due to the village’s distance from Budapest and the area’s subpar roads.

Concerts can be held in the cave’s so-called Great Hall because of its excellent acoustics, which were created especially for these occasions. The 7-kilometer underground walking trip is long, but if you’re afraid of small spaces, the Bükk woodlands make a good substitute. The cave serves as an underground route to Slovakia, although for obvious reasons, it is not a cross-border location.

4.Debrecen

The second-most populous city, Debrecen, is likewise a must-see. Both in terms of industry and education, it serves as the Eastern region’s hub.Since Martin Luther began to spread his ideas in Germany, the Calvinist Rome, as it is sometimes referred to, has served as the focal point of the Hungarian reformation. The Reformed Great Church, which has two towers, is the city’s most recognizable structure and is also related to religion. One of Hungary’s oldest universities, the one in the area is well-known for its excellent medical education, which draws bright students from all around the nation.

5. Pécs

Moving on to the south-east of the nation, Pécs is unquestionably worth visiting. Budapest may resemble a western city, but Pécs is more akin to a tiny gem from the Mediterranean that is situated next to the Mecsek hills.Since it was established by the Romans and has been known as Sopianae since the fourth century, it is quite old and has a lot of historical landmarks in the surrounding area, including the Early Christian Mausoleum and the Cella Septhicora Center.

Hungary is well known for its pottery and ceramics. The Hollóházi, Herendi, and Zsolnay pieces are three producers who have gained the respect of both the industry and the general public throughout Europe.

6. Mátra

Even though Mátra’s highest peak is only 1014 meters above sea level, it is nonetheless the tallest mountain in Hungary. Mátraháza, a tiny village surrounded by woodlands, is where it all begins.

It serves as a ski resort in the winter and a popular hiking destination in the summer. The Base of High-Tech Sports was developed a few years ago after Mátraháza understood fairly early on that they needed to offer more than just a few trails to draw young people. As a result, they can now ensure that all guests will have an interesting time. You can go alone, with your family, or with your coworkers because they provide specific team-building programs; you can try mountain rollers, e-quads, field archery, field segways, winecaching, and the list goes on.
